Save Me a Spot in College Pledge

My Pledge:
- I will graduate from high school, by meeting all graduation requirements to finish high school in California.
- I will take classes to prepare for college, by enrolling in college prep classes, for admission to the University of California and the California State University (known as A-G) and/or career technical coursework.
- I will be proficient in reading, writing, and math, by passing the STAR Test.
- I will apply for financial aid, by completing and filing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) my senior year and submit my grade point average to the Student Aid Commission by March 2nd.
- I will go to college, by applying for university admission or enroll directly in community college within 12 months after high school graduation.
The State of California Pledges:
- California will Save Me a Spot in Community College, so that I can continue my education after high school at a California community college to pursue career technical education or an associate degree, or to prepare for transfer to a four-year college or university.
- If I apply and meet the admission requirements, California will Save Me a Spot at the University of California or the California State University.
- If I need help to pay for community college, I shall receive a fee waiver under the
California Community College Board of Governor's fee waiver program for two or more years of enrollment at a California community college, as long as I am a California resident at that time and continue to show financial need on a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). - California may have more money to help me go to college, if I meet all the eligibility requirements of the CalGrant Program at the time of application in my senior year, I will be eligible to receive a CalGrant to help cover the costs of college. A CalGrant can be used at any eligible public or independent college or university in California.
- The United States of America may have money to help me go to college, by completing a FAFSA it will also help determine if I am eligible for federal financial aid, such as the Pell Grant.
